Sedona Community Fair - September 20, 2008

The name of our community event, Western Americana Day has evolved into the Sedona Community Fair. Sedona’s 2007 community festival was a hit! Unfortunately, we also experienced some of the wildest and fiercest thunderstorms in recent memory throughout the day. A deluge at 2 p.m. closed the event prematurely. But, we still had a great time. See you on September 20th at 9 a.m.

Sedona Community Fair ‘08 will be on September 20th from 9 a.m to 5:30 p.m.

Classic Car Show

The festival will open it's doors at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 20nd. The Sedona Car Club will sponsor an exciting competitive car show. Upwards of 100 classic autos from all over the state will come together for this event. Visitors will vote for their favorite and the car owners will vote on best of show in each auto category. This year, the classes of cars is being expanded to include hot rods and more. The car show will end at 2 p.m.

Airport Open House and Fly-in

The airport open house will also kick off at 9 a.m. with dozens of classic, restored, military, antique, and state-of-the-art new aircraft will be on

display. This exciting array of aircraft is a great crowd pleaser - and kids especially will love seeing these great machines up close and personal. Pilots from all over the southwest will be on hand to share their love of flying with the public. Discount airplane and helicopter rides will also be offered that day.

An Ole' Fashioned Community Festival

The festival will also kick off at 9 a.m. Upwards of 30 booths from Sedona's local service clubs, non-profit organizations, and commercial companies will be set up for all of our enjoyment, education, and sharing. Until noon, the Civil Air Patrol will be serving food and refreshments. From Noon until 7 p.m. a variety of food vendors from the Sedona area will be tempting us with their favorite lunch and dinner items. Popcorn, cotton candy, ice cones and candy will also be offered.

Music & Entertainment All Day Long

Music will fill the air all day. A large entertainment arena will be set up to hold a full day of enjoyable entertainment. From 9 AM to noon local entertainers Tom and Shondra will spin CDs and keep the banter going while we all enjoy the cars and planes. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. the air will be filled with the sounds of professional musicians - country bands, western singers, bluegrass, and much more. Toe-tapping and energetic entertainment will bring a smile to young and old.

Kids Activities

A children's area will also be set up with a few blow-up fun attractions such as the fifty foot long obstacle course for kids of all ages, a ole’ fashion dunk tank to “dunk” your favorite Sedonan and a tent dedicated to crafts, art and other creative activities.

Plenty of FREE Parking

The airport venue will offer Sedona the opportunity to enjoy their neighbors in an open area with room in which to expand and grow in future years. Additional parking space is have been added this year to enable over 500-800 cars to park within walking distance.

Please Join Our 2008 Celebration

The event will be free to all including parking. There will be a cost for food, refreshments and airplane rides. The cost of the event will be borne by the booth participants and the sponsors. The City of Sedona and County Sheriff will be providing traffic management and other crowd control efforts. The chamber of Commerce will help promote the event. The event producers: Shondra Jepperson and Al Comello and a new non-profit organization, Sedona Fair, In.
